A cup of Minnesota trivia for the holidays

How well do you know Minnesota?

Test your knowledge of Minnesota and its changing demographics by taking Minnesota Public Radio’s “How well do you know Minnesota Quiz?” The 20 question quiz was developed using new Community Survey data recently released from the Census Bureau based on surveys from 2005-2009. My favorite question: How many Minnesotans commute to work by ferry?

The U.S. Census Bureau released population data from it’s recently completed decennial census: an event that only comes about once a decade! Minnesota’s population has increased by 7.8% since 2000. The U.S. population is now at 308,745,538, an increase of 9.7% from 2000 (notably the smallest increase in population since before 1910). Changing demographics are already having a huge impact on our communities. New data will affect funding for federal and state  grant programs with private foundations following suit. As a grant writer, having up-to-date statistics about our changing nation, state and counties is quite exciting!

What’s your MN IQ? You may be surprised!

Happy Holidays from everyone at HBH!
