Cargill Foundation emerges as largest Minnesota Foundation
The Margaret Cargill Foundation will split nearly $8 billion with Anne Ray Charitable Trust due to a recent stock deal that will free up billions in cash for the foundation.
The Cargill Foundation will be the largest foundation in Minnesota and among the top 15 in the nation and plans to focus its grantmaking on the environment, arts and culture and relief/recovery. While the foundation has a global focus, local nonprofits are anxiously awaiting more news about grant eligibility guidelines from the philanthropic giant.
As of this blog post, no news had been posted to the Margaret Cargill Foundation website. The foundation has been making grants to invited applicants only through a restricted program. Find out more about this recent development by reading today’s article in the Star Tribune.
