Bob Bunger
Bob Bunger possesses a rich background in organizational and community development. His experience spans the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
He received a B.A. degree in political science from Macalester College and an M.B.A. degree with a management emphasis from the University of St. Thomas. He is a graduate of the Blandin Community Leadership Program and Voyageur Outward Bound School and attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.
Bob has provided counsel to a host of entities, including community-based groups, health care organizations, higher education institutions and foundations. His particular expertise resides in the areas of planning, executive mentoring, relationship building with constituents and fund development. He is adept at working with complex public and not-for-profit partnerships and is a student of organizational best practices, striving to bring fresh ideas from personal experience and current research to clients.
Bob has designed and facilitated meetings for a variety of audiences, and he is a popular presenter at workshops and conferences. Recent topics he has covered include: Program Evaluation, Endowment Fundraising, Major Giving and Capital Campaigns, Board Transitions, and Financial Sustainability for Resilient Organizations. He is a co-designer and trainer for an intensive Board Leadership Academy, now in its fourth year, in collaboration with Bremer, Tastefully Simple and West Central Initiative.
Governor Arne H. Carlson appointed Bob as a founding board member of the Center for Rural Policy and Development. He was reappointed to a second term by Governor Jesse Ventura and subsequently elected treasurer of the board. He has also served on the boards of the Upper Midwest Community Policing Institute, the Minnesota Council on Health, Rum River Interfaith Caregivers and Rum River Health Services. He was also a gubernatorial appointee to the board of the Minnesota Humanities Center.
Bob has been elected to both the Milaca city council and Milaca school board, and he has also participated in numerous organizations including the city planning commission, chamber of commerce, Lions Club, community education advisory council and church committees. In addition, he was the volunteer fundraising chair for the Milaca Area Library building campaign.
