Happy 1st Anniversary BHSF GPC!

For the past year, HBH Consultants was been working with the Benedictine Health Systems Foundation (BHSF) on a pilot project, the Gift Planning Collaborative.  The goal is to train administrators and development staff of six Benedictine Health System facilities in Minnesota and North Dakota on the basics of major gifts and gift planning.  The first year’s curriculum was delivered through a series of webinars, seminars and visits with each facility’s administrator and development staff between sessions.  HBH Consultants and BHSF are partners in designing the Gift Planning Collaborative.

On December 2, we marked the first year of the Collaborative with an all-day gathering of the CEOs of all six facilities, their development staff and volunteers, and BHSF personnel.  The morning was spent in sharing best practices that had been learned and applied during the year, followed by instructional sessions presented by HBH Consultants and BHSF staff on communications, moves management, prospect screening and research, and addressing questions from the participants.

It is heartwarming to see how each facility has progressed during the year.  Several are in the advance phases of capital project funds development, while others are working to build capacity-enhancing giving relationships with major donors.

The second year of the Gift Planning Collaborative will begin with two webinar sessions of the Minnesota Planned Giving Council’s “A Brisk Walk through the Basics”, taught by Craig Wruck.  It will be the first time “Brisk Walk” has been offered in webinar format.  These sessions will kick off a year-long gift planning curriculum.  In the meantime, HBH Consultants is documenting the first year’s curriculum in a Major Gifts Manual for BHSF’s “e-source” library.

So Happy Anniversary!  We couldn’t be more pleased with our partnership with the Benedictine Health Systems Foundation.
