HBH Consultants—Right where I belong

I remember the first time I was introduced to HBH Consultants more than twelve years ago. I was the communications officer for Southwest Initiative Foundation and several staff members and I were working on our annual fund development plan. We knew we needed some outside perspective and guidance, so we hired a fund development consultant. That’s right. You guessed it. It was none other than the infamous Mr. Bob Bunger!
Little did I know that fateful day that HBH Consultants would become a significant part of my professional career path. First, as trusted advisers, helping me attain challenging fund development and communications goals for the foundation and today, as respected colleagues and partners.
That is why my new role as senior associate with HBH Consultants has felt more like coming home than a job change. After being associated with HBH for over ten years in various capacities, from client to adjunct consultant and adviser, I have come to realize that HBH Consultants is right where I belong and I am thrilled about my newly expanded role with the firm.
As an HBH consultant, I have the privilege of applying my experiences, abilities, and passion to benefit Minnesota’s finest not-for-profit organizations and making a real difference for the people and causes they serve. Not to mention I get to work with Bob, Dayton, Dianne and Katrina – four of the most talented, energetic and FUN people I know! There’s a reason we’re known for raising the decibel level every time we walk into our clients’ offices. Who says hard work can’t be fun?
So, who is Sarah Libbon? Well, aside from being wife to Nathan, mother to Drew and Katherine and daughter to Harley and Helen, I have served as a senior marketing strategist at WestmorelandFlint, a Duluth-based marketing and communications firm. I spent nearly ten years as a senior communications officer with Southwest Initiative Foundation and was a development officer with CentraCare Health Foundation. I am a writer, a creative problem-solver and relationship-builder. But most of all, I am a passionate pursuer of positive change for people and communities. My personal mission is to make a difference by helping organizations become more effective in achieving their goals and building relationships with their constituents.
With my addition to the HBH team as well as Katrina Pierson, who joined the firm this past year, we are a rapidly growing organization. We have the resources and expertise to assist nonprofits of all types and sizes with virtually every area of organizational, marketing and fund development assistance. These are exciting times for HBH and we look forward to continuing to help organizations reach new heights!
